Meet Karolina

Karolina Pelc is a 17 year old girl from Guelph, a smaller city in Southwestern Ontario. She began racing in 2010 on a Honda CBR125R and raced it for two years in the CSBK Canadian Superbike Championship's and RACE SuperSeries' Honda CBR125R Challenge, a spec racing class. When she first started she had very little experience riding motorcycles, only having a few rides on a small dirtbike on a muddy backyard track.

< 2013

In 2013 Karolina will be campaigning a 2012 Triumph Daytona 675R in the SOAR Formula Femme championship with hopes of attaining podiums each round as well as capturing the overall championship title. The decision to focus on just one series this year was made after low attendance at the RACE series and the high travel costs associated with travelling to Shannonville. There is some possibility that Karolina will run select CSBK rounds or do one or two races stateside, but only if the necessary support is achieved. The Triumph Daytona 675R platform is the perfect bike for Karolina to move up on, combining large amounts of torque with power thanks to the 3 cylinder engine. This will for sure be a competitive combination for the season.

2012 >

For 2012, the plan was for her to move up to the new Honda CBR250R Challenge but in the interest of her development as a rider, that plan was changed. Karolina was backed by Paul and Jane Rostic of P+J Racing on a 2008 Suzuki RMZ 450 SuperSingle, a motocross bike converted for roadracing. She competed in the RACE SuperSeries in the various classes that the motorcycle was eligible for. Also, for the first time ever, she competed in the SOAR Southern Ontario Association of Racing series, where she ran in the Formula Femme class against women on 4 cylinder 600's. The 2012 season was a big step up from the 125's, and the bike much more work, but also much more fun. Karolina finished the season with a 3rd overall in the RACE Lightweight Sportsman standings, and 7th of 13 in the SOAR Formula Femme class. Respectable results after missing a round of each series due to injury.

< 2011

In 2011 Karolina kicked things up a notch from her first year, placing 4th in nearly every regional round and setting fastest lap times during many races. She had mixed results in the national championship, mainly due to a few cases of bad luck. Karolina's highlights of the season were winning Round 5 of the RACE SuperSeries CBR Cup, sharing the priveledge of being the first girls to qualify on the front row of a national CBR125 grid with Leah Vignale at Circuit ICAR for the first round of the 2011 CSBK championship, and having a great weekend at her favouritre track, Mosport Int'l Raceway (now Canadian Tire Motorsports Park) during the final CSBK weekend.

She found herself 4th of 10 riders in the RACE year-end points standings and 7th of 25 riders in the CSBK year-end points standings.

2010 >

As her 2010 season progressed, she went from finishing last in her first race to achieving her first podium at the regional level. She competed in a few national rounds where competition was much steeper and slowly but surely improved her racecraft.

Karolina finished 6th of 15 riders in the RACE SuperSeries year-end points standings and 22nd of 37 riders in the Canadian Superbike Championship year-end points standings.
